Wow, just had a quick skim of this new book:

true green@work by Kim Mckay and Jenny Bonnin

Another book to appease your conscience

Another book to appease your conscience

published by the venerable ABC Books.

The ignorance of basic energy efficiency concepts is astounding:

Check out this from page 21:

A computer, over a year will use nearly 1000 kilowatts of electricity, …… by switching off your computer before you go home you will cut its electricity use to less than 250 kilowatts

I’d love to see this computer that would need 1 Megawatt of electricity to run. Let’s put that in perspective – that is 1,000 1kW solar panels – or about $10 million dollars worth to run one computer.

How can people who don’t know the difference between a kW and a kWh be trusted to educate the rest of us on energy efficiency?

We’ve finished the sneaky new scraper to pull water ratings from waterrating.gov.au and it works a treat. So washing machines and dishwashers are back up and you can compare water ratings, energy ratings and price all on one page. Hurrah!
